Governor Mvurya’s son leads Kwale in KCPE

wale governor Salim Mvurya’s son topped the county in this year’s KCPE, whose results were released on Monday.

Hassan Mvurya scored 440 marks out of the possible 500.

Hassan,14, did his KCPE at Mikaela Academy in Ukunda and wishes to join Alliance Boys High School.

His career choice is engineering.

He scored 89 in English, 96 in Kiswahili, Mathematics 99, Science 79 and Social studies 77.

The second best student was Mwapheku Bwagizo, who got 422 marks, followed in the third place by Obuyu Mboya with 421.

Headmistress Florence Munke said the school had a mean-score of 354 compared to last year’s 349.

“Hard work and discipline has seen this class excel. We can say this year’s class has been fair,” Munke said.

She said the school has a record of top performance and sending pupils to top national schools.

Munke said, out of 45 pupils, only two scored below 300 marks and nine scored over 400 marks.

At St Janes Primary School, the top pupil, Mazera Said, scored 437 marks.

He was followed by Muli Elizabeth who had 420.

At St Joseph Catholic Primary School, Purity Stacy, the top candidate, had 417 marks.

Private schools in the county performed better than public institutions.
