A suspected robber was gun down after a holding a family hostage for hours in Thika West on Tuesday.
DCI, in a tweet, said the slain suspect was in the company of four people who had attacked the said home.
"The robbers started firing at the officers who had responded to the distress call, prompting them to fire back," DCI said.
The detectives added that the other three suspects escaped and are being pursued.
A homemade gun, kitchen knife and a hammer which the said thugs were using to terrorise the family, were recovered.
