A mother and her two sons are recuperating at Makueni Level 4 Hospital after she allegedly attacked them with an axe then attempted to commit suicide on Monday.
Makueni police boss Bosita Omukolongolo said the 24-year-old mother attacked her sons aged 2 and 4 with an axe in Kathonzweni subcounty, leaving them with grave injuries on their heads, hands and shoulders before taking poison.
"Both boys had been seriously injured, but the older boy is in a worse condition," he said.
Omukolongolo said the mother was also rushed to the same hospital unconscious.
"We are yet to establish the reason she attacked her children, but the case is under investigation," he said.
