A GSU officer was on Monday charged with defilement in a Nakuru court.

Bernard Kipngetich, who appeared before principal magistrate Joe Omido, denied defiling a 17-year-old girl between

November 10 and 14 in Njoro subcounty.

In a second count, Kipngetich was accused of performing an indecent act with a child by touching her private parts.

He allegedly detained the girl in his house at the GSU camp in Njoro and forced himself on her.

The girl reported the attack at Njoro police station and Kipngetich was arrested on Sunday evening.

He pleaded for his release on favourable bond terms.

The prosecution did not object.

Omido ordered his release upon paying a Sh400,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount or an alternative bail of Sh200,000.

He also ordered that the accused be supplied with witness statements.

The case will be mentioned on November 26.
