Two Homa Bay MCAs arrested over assault on impeached Speaker

Two MCAs in Homa Bay MCAs have been arrested for allegedly assaulting impeached Speaker Elizabeth Ayoo.
Majority leader Walter Muok (Kanyadoto) and Julius Gaya (Central Karachuonyo) were seized on Thursday evening over the fracas at the assembly in which Ayoo was beaten up by MCAs.
They were arrested by Homa Bay DCI officers.
County DCI Commander Daniel Wachira told journalists said they arrested the two MCAs following a directive from their from Kisumu offices.

He said Ayoo recorded statement over the assault at Nyanza police regional offices in Kisumu. She accused the two MCAs.
“I don't know the number MCAs were involved.

We will arrest

more suspects should there be others,” Wachira said.

Muok is detained at Homa Bay police station while Gaya is at Kendu Bay police station.
“They will be taken to Kisumu tomorrow (Friday) morning for interrogation,” Wachira said.
On October 16, chaos erupted at the assembly. Some MCAs boxed and kicked Ayoo for allegedly being bias.
They accused her of having a soft spot for former Majority leader Richard Ogindo and his allies.
Security officials intervened and whisked Ayoo out of the assembly as the situation degenerated.
