DCI arrests man over expired baby diapers found in Athi River godown

DCI officers from Parklands have arrested Muktar Rehemtulla Omar who was being sought in connection to expired baby diapers that were recovered in a godown in Athi River on October 12.

Four tonnes of expired diapers were seized by detectives from Nairobi and Athi River at Eens Go-down, Kapa in Mlolongo.

Detectives working on a tip off had to force their way into the go-down.

The Ezee pampers brand packaged in bails comprising small, medium and large pampers expired in February this year.

The assorted China-made brand had already been repackaged ready for sale.

"He has been booked in Parklands police station cells vide OB 75/15/11/2018 and he is to be charged on Friday," read the statement.

He faces various accounts ranging from offering for sale substandard Baby Diapers branded Ezee baby diapers contrary to the Standards Act and

offering for sale diapers without valid Import Standardisation Mark permit.

The other charge is applying Importation Standardisation Mark to branded to diapers without a valid permit from the Kenya Bureau of Standards.

Six people have been arrested over the matter.
