Naisula Lesuuda wins One Young World's Politician of the Year Award

Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda was voted as one of the five winners of the 2018 inaugural One Young World Awards.

She bagged the World Politician of the Year Award for outstanding contribution in peace and education in her community.

"I am humbled and honored to have been voted as one of the five winners," she said in a tweet on Monday.

"I am re-energized and inspired to continue fighting for peace, education, youth and women empowerment," the legislator said.

The lawmaker has been on the forefront in the fight against FGM among the Samburus and has been headlined as a champion of peace in the community.

This, she has done through various initiatives, moreso with girls of school-going age.

In December 2014, she was named in Forbes list of ’20 Youngest Power Women in Africa.’

She was named alongside

Kenya Airways Captain Irene Koki Mutungi, Diplomat Yvonne Khamati and MFarm co-founders Jamila Abass, Linda Kwamboka and Susan Oguya.
