National flyer Kenya Airways has added the euro currency to its payment options after opening a Euro Account for its sales outlets in Kenya.

There have only been the dollar and Kenyan shilling payment options in the past, limiting international travellers' choices.

“We have opened a Euro Account to offer our guests more flexibility for payment options at all our sales outlets in Kenya. We want to offer our guests choices that enable them to pay in either the Kenya Shilling, Euro or the US Dollar,” Kenya Airways Group MD and CEO Sebastian Mikosz said in a statement.

He said the new option will further cater for the increasing number of multinational companies and other foreign missions based in Kenya as a suitable payment option for KQ services.

According to 2018 Economic Survey, a majority of the 250,000 visitors who toured Kenya from the European Union last year were from Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Romania, Netherlands and Belgium.
