A

former Nation Media Group journalist Mbugua Ngunjiri is nursing wounds after bandits raided him at his Kitengela residence in Kajiado.

Ngunjiri was attacked on Saturday night at his Mlimani home in Kitengela.

“They attacked our house at around midnight. They carried away anything of value they could land their hands on. Luckily, the kids slept through the whole ordeal,” said the victim.

The journalist, who was treated and discharged from Kitengela Medical Hospital, said he suffered a cut on the head and ankle after he was hit with a blunt object.

“They came in through the kitchen door which was, apparently, not locked as we watched TV with my wife in the living room. I only noticed too late that we were in danger and before I could open my mouth I was hit on the head with a heavy metallic object,” said Ngunjiri after recording

a statement at Kitengela police station.

“They took the little money I had in the house and from my Mpesa after asking for my pin. They proceeded to borrow Sh3, 000 from MShwari. I have never borrowed money from Mshwari but I qualified for Sh 3, 000,” said the journalist.

The police said they are investigating the matter.
