Two suspects were arrested on Friday in Kambu, Makueni, with elephant tusks weighing 36kg.
The Kenya Wildlife Service said the suspects have been detained at Mtito Andei police station. They will be taken to Makindu Law Courts once investigations are complete.
KWS corporate communications manager Paul Udoto said the probe will establish the origin of the tusks.
"We expect some interesting details to emerge. I'm not at liberty to share the information at this point," he said.
On September 3, three suspects were arrested for being in possession of nine pieces of elephant tusks weighing 23kg.
Bedford Njeru, Edward Ciengo, and Muteti Kiema were nabbed in Njambini township. They will be taken to court on Monday.
Cases of people being found with illegal animal trophies have been on the rise.
On May 17, two people were charged for the illegal possession of two pieces of elephant tusks with a street value of Sh3.2 million in
Emali town.
Wambua Muia and David Mutua denied the charge before Senior Resident Magistrate Damaris Karani at Makindu Law Courts.
On April 24, two other suspects were charged at the Migori Law Courts for having Sh1.5 million elephant tusks.
