A survey has put boda boda riders on the spot for gender-based violence in Siaya.

The Malaika Foundation survey, carried out in Alego Usonga and Ugenya sub-counties in May and June, shows 50 per cent of female respodents who experienced sexual harassment blamed it on motorcycle operators.

Malaika founder Steve Akoth (pictured) said even without the survey, cases of boda boda riders taking advantage of young girls and women are on the rise.

He said the move triggered the NGO to conduct a survey on how girls and women are sexually harassed by motorcycle riders in the county.
