Two people died in suspected suicide cases in Kinangop and Naivasha on Sunday night.

In the first incident, a 62-year-old farmer from Magumu village in Kinangop was found dead in his house after a quarrel with his wife.

Neighbour Amos Kimani said the man, who was drunk, hanged himself in their bedroom.

He said for the last one year the man has been drinking daily.

"We were attracted by screams from the man's house. When we went to check, we found him hanging from the ceiling," he said.

In a separate incident in Naivasha, a 52-year-old man who lost his job last year reportedly hanged himself on the balcony of his rented house.

"The man has been suffering from depression. The body was taken to the mortuary," a senior police officer said.

Meanwhile, a motorcycle rider was on Sunday night allegedly lynched by members of Nyumba Kumi over a series of robberies at Mirera estate in Naivasha.

In retaliation, angry boda boda riders attacked a KDF officer who lives in the area. He was rescued by security officers.

The riders poured petrol on the soldier and were looking for matchbox to set him ablaze when the officers saved his life

Boniface Kinyanjui, a rider, accused Nyumba Kumi officials of the killing.

He claimed the military officer was behind the patrols that led to their colleague's murder.

"Our colleague was ferrying charcoal when he was killed. We want the police to take action or we shall avenge the death," Kinyanjui said.

But area Chief Hassan Guyo defended the Nyumba Kumi officials. He said they were not involved in the lynching.

He said the police have started investigations, but no one has been arrested.
