IPOA has launched investigations into two incidents where police separately shot suspects in Ruiru and Eldama Ravine.

In the first case, the police oversight body are probing officers who before fatally shooting him.

In the second case, police officers, who while on patrol, brutally assaulted a 32-year-old man in Eldama Ravine town in Baringo county.

In a statement, IPOA communication boss Dennis Oketch said the authority has dispatched its rapid response team to investigate the two incidents.

He said that if the officers are found culpable of the allegations, the authority will ensure they face the full force of the law.

This will be by making appropriate disciplinary or criminal remedial recommendations to the Director of Public Prosecutions or suitable government agencies.

A number of cases of extrajudicial killings involving the police remain unsolved in the country.

The situation has been blamed on the ineptness of institutions mandated to probe the incidents and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
