Deputy President William Ruto has cautioned leaders not to incite Kenyans.

He said they should foster peace instead of breeding division in society.

The DP spoke on Sunday during an inter-denominational service in Kilifi.

Ruto said leaders should focus on solutions rather than being part of the problem.

“We have a right to speak about the issues affecting the people we serve. But let have decorum and respect,” he said.

The DP said he would intensify efforts to ensure Kenya is transformed.

“No part of this country will be left behind. We will ensure Kenyans have better roads and well-equipped hospitals. We will boost enrollment in schools and expand power connections to homes,” he said.

The DP was accompanied by 14 Members of Parliament.

They said he is fit suited to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The MPs included Suleiman Dori (Msambweni), Aisha Jumwa (Malindi), Ali Mbogo (Kisauni), Owen Baya (Kilifi North), Shariff Ali Athman (Lamu East), Badi Twalib (Jomvu), Kassim Ali Sawa (Matuga), Jones Mlolwa (Voi), Said Buya Hiribae (Galole), Benjamin Tayari (Kinango) and Paul Katana (Kaloleni).

Others are Kilifi Woman Representative Gertrude Mbeyu, Senators Anwar Loitiptip (Lamu) and Christine Zawadi (Kilifi, nominated).

The politicians said they supported Ruto so that Kenyans can have inclusive representation.

“Our problems stem from unproductive politics we were involved in. We are now taking a new route by supporting the DP. We want a better future for our children,” Jumwa said.

Dori backed the Malindi MP. He said the Coast people should stop complaining about being marginalised and forgotten.

“This time around if we are marginalised again, then it will be because of our own mistakes,” he said.

The leaders wondered why some politicians were against Ruto’s countrywide tours. They said they won't bow down to threats, not because of their association with him.

“The handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga gave us the green light to work with the Jubilee government. So what is wrong with supporting Ruto? We are working with the DP because Baba [Raila] said so. We won't stop because we want a better Kenya," Mlolwa said.

He said the Coast never back the opposition again.

“We will be in the government in the government headed by Ruto in 2022,” he said.
