Former US President Barack Obama visited his grandmother Mama Sarah's home

at K'Ogelo Village in Siaya county on Monday morning before heading to the launch of his half sister's foundation.

The chopper carrying the former world leader touched down at the village at around 9:45 am.

He spent some time with Mama Sarah before heading to the launch of Sauti Kuu Foundation, at which he is the guest of honour.

Villagers flocked the home and the foundation although only accredited guests were allowed into the compounds.

Residents were told earlier that the visit is private, not a public rally.

Police said only accredited visitors will attend the launch of Sauti Kuu, a foundation started by Obama's half sister Auma.
