[Photos] Obama meets Raila, discusses Building Bridges Initiative

Immediate Former US President Barack Obma on Sunday evening met with opposition leader Raila Odinga at the Hotel Vila Rosa Kempinski.

The two leaders met after president Uhuru Kenyatta hosted Obama at State House after he landed at JKIA at 1pm.

In their talks Raila saiid they had discussed a variety of issues including the building bridges initiative and the fight on corruption.

"It's always a great pleasure meeting with one of Kenya’s most famous sons, President BarackObama. He spoke very passionately about his foundation and particularly the empowerment of the youth and I commend both him and his sister AumaObama for the commendable job," Raila said.

He said as a champion of democracy, President Obama threw his support behind the Building Bridges initiative and pledged his support in helping bring the country together and fighting corruption.

"Finally we spoke about ending the stalemate in South Sudan and finding peace for our neighbours. I join the rest of the nation in saying welcome back home Barack!," Raila said on his twitter.

Obama is in the country for a two-day visit that will see him launch his half sister's foundation before heading to South Africa for the Annual lecture at the Mandela fellowship.

Uhuru thanked Obama who is visiting for the fifth time for keeping his 2015 promise of visiting after his term as president.
