Light rains expected in Nairobi, central highlands until July 16

The central highlands and south eastern lowlands are expected to experience cooler conditions until July 16.

Central highlands include Nairobi, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu and Tharaka Nithi.

The areas are expected to experience mainly cool and cloudy mornings with light rains and short sunny intervals, with the possibility of rain in the afternoons or evenings.

South eastern lowlands, which include Kajiado, Kitui, Makueni, Machakos and Taita Taveta are expected to have cool and cloudy mornings with sunny intervals.

The nights are expected to be partly cloudy.

The weatherman that in the coastal strip, there will be

morning and afternoon showers over a few places throughout the forecast period.

Evenings are expected to be partly cloudy with the possibility of showers on some days.

North eastern areas - Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo - are expected to experience partly cloudy skies at night and sunny intervals during the day throughout the forecast period.

Northwestern counties of Turkana, West Pokot, Samburu will have sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy conditions at night.

Afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms are, however, likely over a few places while morning rains are likely at the boarder with Uganda next Monday.

The Lake Victoria basin, highlands west of the Rift Valley, central and south Rift Valley are expected to experience rains over a few places and sunny intervals in the mornings of Tuesday, Saturday and Monday.

Afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms are expected over a few places throughout the forecast period.

These areas and the Coastal strip mainly recorded rainfall last week, the highest levels being in Butere.

Mandera county recorded the highest daily maximum temperature of 35.5 degrees Celsius while Nyahururu recorded the lowest at 6.5 degrees Celsius.
