However, World junior 3000m steeplechase record holder and Africa Cross country champion Celliphine Chepteek Chespol who joined Kenya Prisons a year ago will have to complete the mandatory two year probation to be considered for the promotion
The Commissioner General for Prisons Isaya Osugo said they were rewarding merit and had granted the promotions basing on their performance where they’ve put the Prisons department and the country on the world map.
“As for you Chespol, you will get the promotion once you get a confirmation upon the completion of the two-year service,” he said.
He paid tribute to sports personalities at Kenya Prisons for making the department visible through their exploits saying they deserve to be feted.
Osugo said in the next recruitment of servicemen and women they will set aside an allocation for the recruitment of talented sports personalities as a gesture of appreciating sporting talent.
“Talented and upcoming sporting personalities should turn up for recruitment during the next exercise but should be exceptionally good as we intend to recruit the best,” he said.
The promotions were announced during a function where sponsors of the Kenya Prisons inter-regional championships had turned up to give their support at Prisons headquarters in Nairobi yesterday.
