"Coast traffic commandant Emmanuel Okanda said the six died after a lorry collided with a matatu."

Seven people were killed on Friday following a head on collision accident near Kamukuywa bridge, Bungoma county.

The accident occurred after a PSV matatu and tractor collided at Maliki, few kilometres to the bridge - infamous for accidents involving stationary tractors.

This is the same spot where 14 people were killed last week.

John Wekesa, a witness, said the driver of the tractor carrying West Kenya sugar mechanics lost control of the vehicle and collided with the matatu.

The 14-seater matatu was heading to Kitale while the tractor was heading towards Webuye.

Wekesa said irate locals burned the tractor. The injured were taken to hospitals in Bungoma and Kitale.
