A Busia resident has urged the county to generate power from waste and sugarcane bagasse to end frequent outages.
Walter Opondo, an engineer with Kenya Electricity Generating Company, said the only way to end the blackouts is for the county to generate its own electricity. He spoke when he visited the county Energy chief officer Gilbert Oduory on Wednesday.
“Investors are willing to partner with the county to put up a plant that can generate up to 25MW megawatts from waste and bagasse,” Opondo said.
He said power outages in Busia have been hurting business.
