Motorists who use Nyeri-Kangema-Gacharage-Thika (B23) are the latest to suffer the effects of heavy rains.
The road starts at Kangema and cuts through hilly areas to Kahuti, Gatuya, Muriranjas, Kagaa, Marumi and Kariua, with its end at Gacharage.
The Transport ministry issued an advisory on Friday, noting landslides had taken place in the area.
Karwino, Kahuti, Gatuya, Karega, Gachocho and Marumi centre are among those affected.
The ministry said the Kenya National Highways Authority would conduct 24-hour surveillance to
ensure mobility.
"A contractor with adequate working capacity has been placed on this road,” read a statement.
The ministry also urged motorists to take extra caution at Kanjama area along the Othaya-Kangemi section as a differential settlement on one lane
rendered the road impassable.
President Uhuru Kenyatta commissioned the road in Murang'a county in 2016, a project on which Sh4.1 billion was spent.
It links Thika and Nyeri and substantially reduces travel time between the towns.
