Uhuru appoints selection panels for four commissions

President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed selection panels to set up four commissions whose members' tenures have expired.

These are the Salaries and Remuneration Commission, National Gender and Equality Commission, Public Service Commission and Commission on Administration Justice (Ombudsman office).

The names of the members of the selection panels are contained in a gazette notice dated April 16.

Mary Kimonye has been appointed to chair the selection panel for nominees for appointment as chairperson to SRC.

The position fell vacant upon the expiry of Sarah Serem's tenure in December last year.

Stephen Kirogo, Agnes Shikuku, Joseph Mogendi and Boniface Otysula have been appointed as members to the committee.

The selection committee for the selection of chairperson and members of Ombudsman office include Jasper Mbiuki, Simon Rotich, Christine Kanini, Jane Chege, Samson Kibii and Catherine Wameyo.

Those appointed in the selection committee to select nominees to chair the PSC are Kennedy Kihara, Muthoni Kimani, Nura Mohammed, Edwin Makori, Salome Gitoho, Hirji Shah and Rose K’Oweru.

Margaret Kobia resigned as PSC chairperson to join Uhuru's Cabinet as Public Service, Gender and Youth CS.

Appointees to the selection committee for the selection of nominees for appointment as chairperson and members of the Gender Commission are Mohamed Gabu, Claire Lai, Mary Gichohi and Veronica Birgen.

Others are Ruth Kagia, Judith Bonywa, Charles Mutinda and Justa Nkoroi.
