Five houses were torched in Kanduyi constituency in a revenge attack following the murder of a watchman.
A mob stormed the home of popular trader Amos Wafula, who was arrested by police
on Friday
on suspicion of being behind the brutal murder of watchman Daniel Tabani.
In the ambush on Monday, the mob torched Wafula's house and those belonging to his relatives. Those who were in the compound in Mayanja village fled for safety.
The attackers also blocked
Chwele-Bungoma road for the better part of the day, causing a major snarl up and bringing business to a stand still.
They were dispersed by police but later went to Wafula's business premises and destroyed or stole his property as police watched.

Bungoma OCPD David Kirui warned residents against mob justice and assured that those who destroyed Wafula's property will be apprehended and punished.
“We will not allow people to take the law into their own hands," he said, noting suspects remain innocent until proven guilty.
Tabani was buried on Sunday at his Mayanja home.
Police are holding three suspects amid investigations into his death.
