Labour Party thanks Uhuru for Ababu's nomination as Foreign Affairs CAS

The Labour Party of Kenya has lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta for nominating its leader Ababu Namwamba to the Cabinet.

The former Budalangi was named Chief Administrative Secretary of the Foreign Affairs ministry in changes announced on Friday.

Joyce Auki, the party's women congress president, said the move was not only a honour to the party but also to the Luhya community.

She said they believe is Ababu's ability to deliver describing him as a young and experienced leader who has served both in the executive and Parliament.

"We highly appreciate Uhuru and DP William Ruto for honouring the people of Busia and Labour Party of Kenya."

"We expect more appointments from our region because we are in full support of the Jubilee administration," Auki said at the weekend.

She said that the former MP was rewarded for fully supporting Uhuru's re-election for a second and last term in office.

The party's Busia branch secretary general Joseph Alende said the President was right to create the CAS positions.

The lot said this will enhance service delivery in his administration and help in achieving the president's Big Four agenda.

"As people of Busia, we did not demand for this position since it was solely the prerogative of the President."

"Uhuru must have consulted widely before appointing Ababu. We feel honoured," Alende said.

Busia branch secretary general Julius Oboya said they will support the proposed CAS in his new docket.

"Ababu is a scholar and has vast experience having served in government before. With support from Kenyans, we believe he will perform."
