A man was shot dead by suspected Pokot bandits while fetching firewood in Kapedo on Sunday.

Bosco Lokale, 48, was a resident of Kanayama village in Neipotom ward. The firewood seller was shot several times in the head.

Inspector John Bwire said security officers

were deployed to the area to restore calm and end

"heinous acts against innocent people".

"Investigations are ongoing. Once we are done, the culprits will face the law. Residents should cooperate with police."

Security has deteriorated in parts of Turkana including Lokichogio, Kibish, Kainuk and Kapedo. Cattle have been stolen in many of the cross-border attacks.

The quest for peace saw Governor Josphat Nanok lead a delegation to Uganda for peace and security talks.
