Two suspects have arrested while transporting eight pieces of elephant tusks worth Sh2 million near Suguta Marmar in Samburu Central.

The two were arrested on Thursday night by KWS officers during a routine patrol.

“....they were found in possession of eight pieces of elephant tusks weighing 23kgs and they have already been booked at Maralal police station together with the vehicle they were using to transport the tusks,” The county Kenya Wildlife Service warden Richard Lemarkat said.

Lemarkat said they have launched investigations to establish where the tusks were being transported to.

“We really appeal to the communities living close to the wildlife to be providing information of any suspicious vehicle or persons because they might be poachers,” he appealed.
