A lobby group wants mobile phone service providers Safaricom, Airtel and Telkom to release communication logs between Sharon Otieno and suspects in her murder case.
Umilo Wa Akamba, a human rights and empowerment group, through their chairman James Kimeu, told the press in Nairobi on Thursday this will speed up investigations.
The seven-months pregnant woman was found dead in Kodera Forest on September 5. She was raped and stabbed eight times: three times in the neck, four times in the back, and on the left side of her abdomen.
Nation journalist Barrack Oduor, who was abducted with her, escaped.
"No person deserves to lose his or her life in a brutal manner like Sharon did. We want speedy investigations," Kimeu said.
He said they have confidence in Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji and Director and Criminal Investigations George Kinoti to crack the case.
"The DPP and the DCI should give a timeline within which they are going to finish investigations. Other murder cases of Chris Musando and Mercy Keino have never been solved. We want Haji and Kinoti to set an example with Sharon's case," Kimeu said.
He appealed to parents with children in universities and colleges to monitor them so that the same fate does not befall them.
Migori governor Okoth Obado's personal assistant Michael Oyamo and former Kanyandoto MCA Lawrence Obonyo have been detained by police over the murder.
Obado, who has adversely been mentioned, was grilled by DCI officers on Tuesday. He has denied involvement in the murder.
