Three people died in a multiple-vehicle accident on Nairobi-Mombasa highway on Thursday night.
The incident
at Kapiti plains in Machakos county
left 12 people injured.
Machakos county police commander Samuel Mukindia said on Friday morning that the crash took place took place after a matatu driver tried to overtake several vehicles.
“The driver miscalculated and rammed into a trailer before being hit from behind,” said Mukindia.
The injured were taken to
Machakos Level 5 Hospital.
The bodies were taken to the hospital's mortuary and the wreckage dragged to Kyumbi police station.
