Harvard University under Equity's Wings to Fly programme will from next year give full scholarships
to the two best KCSE students.
The annual programme will be started in honour of the late
professor Calestous Juma who died on December 15.
Until his death, professor
Juma was the faculty chair of the Innovation for Economic Development Executive Programme and director of Science, Technology and Globalisation Project at the Harvard Kennedy School.
"Harvard University has agreed to the proposal in honour of late Kenyan scholar and we are sending off the best of our candidates to Havard starting with these nine who scored straight A's,"
Equity Group CEO James Mwangi said.
Juma
was also director of the school's Science, Technology and Globalisation project as well as the Agricultural Innovation in Africa Project funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

He is one of Kenya's foremost recognised professors and was also the first African Science and Environmental journalists at the Daily Nation newspaper.
According to Wikipedia, Prof Juma is an internationally recognised authority in the application of science and technology to sustainable development worldwide.
He was named one of the most influential 100 Africans in 2012, 2013 and 2014 by the New African magazine.
