Girl stripped by cops awarded Sh4 million by High Court

The High Court has awarded Sh4 million as damages to a girl who was stripped during a police inspection in 2015.

The who had intercepted a matatu in Sagana allegedly ferrying students described as being intoxicated and engaging in sexual activities.

Nude pictures of the girl started circulating online shortly after.

The girl was charged with being in possession of bhang, an offence she pleaded guilty to.

She was given a suspended sentence of 18 months probation.

An NGO, Cradle, filed a case seeking Sh7 million compensation for the girl for violation of privacy.

On Monday, Judge John Mativo awarded the girl Sh4 million.
