Man, 50, dies after drinking illicit brew in Kerugoya bar

A 50-year-old man died on Friday after allegedly consuming an illicit brew at a Kerugoya club.

Witnesses said the unidentified man was drinking the alcohol, being traded as Santa,

before he started vomiting blood.

He was rushed to the Kerugoya Level 4 hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The

incident came in the wake of Kirinyaga county commissioner Mohammed Birik warning bar owners against selling second generation brews.

Birik said during Jamhuri Day celebrations that the security team will will crack the whip on illicit brew dealers during the festive season.

The body was taken to Kerugoya Level 4 hospital mortuary as police launched investigations into the case.
