Knut secretary general Wilson Sossion has said he will not resign from his post following a gazette notice ordering him to vacate.

He said the Kenya Nations Union of Teachers is not government property to be dictated.

On Wednesday, Labour CS Phyllis Kandie listed the ODM nominated MP among others in a notice to vacate immediately.

KUPPET chairman Omboko Milemba was also asked to leave. He won the Emuhaya MP seat in the August 8 general election.

"This notification to vacate office applies to all trade union officials holding either nominated or elective positions in any county assembly or Parliament," Kandie said.

But before the commencement of Knut's 60th Annual Delegates Conference in Mombasa, Sossion told The Star he will "not succumb to the government's intimidation", adding the move is political.

"I'm not relinquishing my position. I should go where? I'm here to stay" he said.

Nation acting chairman Wycliff Omucheyi said teachers will remain united.

"This is the machinations of authority," he said.

The hard stance by the MP comes a week after he vowed to block almost all the new policies introduced by Education CS Fred Matiang'i and Teachers Service Commission.

Sossion is opposed to implementation of new curriculum - 2-6-6-3 - saying it is a "tragedy in a making".

He said the state will not provide text books directly to schools saying this might be a " mega scandal in the offing".

Sossion said schools sharing ground will not have their boards dissolved.

The SG also averred TSC will not succeed in its substantive appointment.

Article 77 of the constitution restricts full time state officers from holding alternative positions of gainful employment.

The gazette notice also affects Union of Kenya Civil Servants secretary general Tom Odege who was elected MP for Nyatike constituency.
