Matiang'i declares Tuesday a holiday for Uhuru swearing-in

The government has declared November 28 a public holiday for President Uhuru Kenyatta's swearing-n.

In a gazette notice on Thursday, acting Interior CS Fred Matiang'i said the holiday is in line with the Assumption

of the Office of President Act.

"It is notified for the public that in accordance to the provisions, Tuesday shall be a public holiday."

The ceremony will take Place at Kasarani stadium from 10am to the afternoon.

Since the Supreme Court upheld Uhuru’s October rerun victory, a sub-committee in charge of security, protocol and logistics has been working round the clock to ensure all preparations are completed by Saturday.

said many diplomats and heads of states from across the globe are expected.

Former US President Barack Obama, UN boss Antonio Guterres and a host of heads of state have been invited.

The President-elect assumes office by taking and subscribing the oath or affirmation of allegiance, and the oath or affirmation for the execution of the functions of office, as prescribed in the Third Schedule.
