Kenya's neighbour Uganda has congratulated President Uhuru Kenyatta on his re-election.

The East African country becomes the fourth nation to do so on Monday.

Britain and South Sudan were the first countries to send in their congratulatory messages.

These came several hours after the Supreme Court upheld Uhuru's re-election on October 26.

PSCU said via twitter that the UK sent its congratulatory message through its Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson.

It said Foreign Affairs CS Amina Mohammed confirmed receiving the message.

PSCU said Bangladesh had also congratulated the president on his re-election.

The apex court dismissed two petitions that sought to challenge Uhuru's re-election during the repeat election saying they lacked merit.

The other sought to declare NASA principals in contempt of court for asking their supporters to boycott the repeat election.

Chief Justice David Maraga said the decision was unanimous against all the 14 issues that had been raised in the petitions.

He said a detailed ruling will be given after 21 days.

The same court on September 1 nullified Uhuru's win at the August 8 election citing illegalities and irregularities.

NASA leader Raila Odinga, who was the petitioner in the first case, distanced himself from the second petition saying he was not party to the repeat election.

On October 31, a day after the IEBC declared Uhuru the winner, Somalia's Mohamed Farmajo, Burundi's Pierre Nkurunziza and Uganda's Yoweri Museveni sent congratulatory messages via twitter.
