Travellers affected by Raila arrival will be rebooked for free - KQ

Kenya Airways has announced disruption of services at JKIA after NASA leader Raila Odinga arrived from the US.

"KQ has been impacted by the disruption on Mombasa Road, with some guests departing from JKIA missing their flights," it said in a statement on Thursday.

The national carrier said

operations are running as scheduled but noted guests who will miss their flights will be out on others.

"Any guest who will miss their flight will be re-booked on the next one, at no fee," KQ said.

"This applies to all guests travelling before 6pm, from JKIA, for tickets purchased on or prior to Friday."

Police and supporters of the opposition chief fought running battles along Mombasa Road which leads to the airport.

Officer fired in the air and hurled tear gas canisters to disperse hundreds of people gathered outside the facility.

Raila landed at the JKIA after a

10-day trip in the US.

He stepped out of a Kenya Airways plane at

11:28 am and was welcomed by some leaders in the opposition.

KAA had reported that operations at JKIA were normal despite the confrontations. This was

after a notice, now dismissed as fake, stated

international flights had been diverted to

Eldoret, Mombasa

and Kisumu airports.
