IG Joseph Boinnet has warned NASA against mobilising large crowds to march to JKIA to welcome Raila Odinga.

Raila, who has been in the US for the past one week,

will land on November 17.

A rally "to rehearse his welcome" his grand welcome has been set for Thursday.

But Boinnet said:

"It is not advisable to mobilise huge crowds to travel to that facility as it risks jeopardising

the safety

of air passengers and other airport users."

In a statement on Wednesday through police spokesman George Kinoti, he noted the airport

is a protected area that is only for bona fide

travellers.

"...and all others with legitimate business at the airport

who must be subjected at all times to the standards security procedures," he said.

"Those without valid reasons to enter the facility will be denied entry. Therefore, those making plans for the day are advised accordingly."

Boinnet noted anyone who wants to organise a public procession or meeting must comply with the public order act 2016.

NASA announced a mega rally

at Kamukunji Grounds in Nairobi ahead of the opposition leader's return from the US.

"Organisers of the grand welcome invite supporters to a major rally. The rally will be a dress rehearsal for the Friday grand welcome," Siaya Senator James Orengo said in a statement.

"This is part of our continuing journey of ensuring electoral justice and putting an end to the evil culture of sham elections with pre-determined outcomes.

Together we shall triumph."
