Ezra Chiloba's three-week leave does not guarantee a credible election, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang'ula said on Friday.

The NASA co-principal said the IEBC CEO's decision to take leave with only five days to the repeat election is too little too late.

"Chiloba has walked out of office after he had already signed an agreement with OT-Morpho, Al Ghurair and Safaricom. This cannot guarantee free, fair, credible and verifiable elections on Thursday," he told the press at Ford Kenya offices in Kitale.

He said Chiloba has already laid a foundation for a rigged election.

"Our stand as Ford Kenya and NASA at large is that there will be no election on Thursday," Wetang'ula added.

NASA has been holding countrywide protests calling for Chiloba's removal before the repeat election.

Raila Odinga withdrew from the election but is yet to submit form 24A to formally notify the IEBC of the same.

Training of election officials has been marred by protests in Opposition strongholds.

International observers have expressed confidence that the IEBC will deliver a credible poll even though chair Wafula Chebukati said otherwise.

Chiloba said he had taken a personal decision to take leave in light of the Opposition's demands, without giving more details.

He said all arrangements were in place for the election, as ordered by the Supreme Court. Chiloba will start his leave on Monday.
