Doctors removed a bullet lodged in shoulder of two-and-half-year-old baby who was shot during anti-IEBC demos in Kisumu on Monday.

The operation took four hours.

Santel was shot were playing with other children in their compound in Nyamasaria.

Her mum, Lydia Khageya, who lost her husband three months ago, said her daughter was shot in the compound. She was playing with three other children.

Khageya said she saw Santel fall down on the ground. As she ran towards, she wondered who had throw a stone that hit daughter. However, she saw something stuck on her shoulder.

“We took her to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, “ Kyageya said.

An X-ray was done and it show she had bullet lodged in her body.

“Some of us stormed the theater when the operation took long,” said the grandmother, Rose Akinyi.

“There was no protest in our compound. Why would a bullet hit our daughter,” she said.

The girl has been discharged but the family does not have money to buy drugs for her. She appealed for help.

An 18-year-old student of Vihiga High School was shot dead by police during the protest in Kondele.
