IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati has invited all the seven presidential candidates and their running mates to an urgent meeting tomorrow at Serena Hotel.

The chair said the meeting, which concerns issues bordering on the fresh October 26 election, will start at 2.30 pm.

He said this will be in line with his statement on Wednesday where he cast aspersions on whether the current political environment favours a credible election.

Chebukati said this when he addressed the press at the Bomas of Kenya following the resignation of Commissioner Roslyn Akombe.

"I write and ask that you conscientiously refrain, and also restrain your supporters or agents before, during or after the meeting, from any utterances, actions, and inactions that may negate the value of the consultative meeting," the IEBC chair said in a letter copied to all the candidates.

They are President Uhuru Kenyatta, NASA leader Raila Odinga, Thirdway Alliance's Ekuru Aukot, Japheth Kaluyu, Michael Wainaina, Abduba Dida and Joe Nyagah.

Chebukati said the consultative meeting on the preparation and the conduct of the fresh election will pave way for the commission's desire to conduct a free, fair, credible, and transparent election.

However, it is worthing noting that the president has always sent representatives to meetings called by the electoral agency after the Supreme Court annulled his win.

In the first instance, Raila and his team walked out of the meeting after Uhuru and DP William Ruto did not appear within the meeting's scheduled time.

The DP later went to the meeting accompanied by Majority Leader Aden Duale and Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju.

Later on September 27, the two groups – NASA and Jubilee – held talks with the commission but failed to agree on the way forward for the vote.

Siaya Senator and lawyer James Orengo represented the National Super Alliance with his counterparts Paul Mwangi, Norman Magaya.

Jubilee Party was represented by chief agent Davis Chirchir, Tuju, and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, who is Senate majority leader.

The meeting has been called at a time NASA has maintained it will not take part in the elections, calling for mass demonstrations on voting day.

And following these developments, Chebukati has warned that the withdrawal of Raila might deepen the country's crisis.

This was part of the statement he skipped during a televised address.
