Doctors have successfully removed a bullet from the shoulder of a baby shot during anti-IEBC demos in Kisumu on Monday.

Lydia Khageya, the mother of the two and a half year-old, said she was shot in their compound in Nyamasaria while playing with other children.

"We ran towards her because we thought she was hit by a stone but on looking closely, we saw something in her shoulder and rushed her to

Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital," Khageya said.

Khageya said an X-ray showed there was a bullet in baby Mary Shantel's shoulder.

"There was no protest in our compound. We wondered why the bullet hit our daughter."

The mother of two, who was accompanied by other family members, said the operation took four hours.

But Khageya, who lost her husband three months ago, said she does not have enough money to acquire medicine prescribed for her baby.
