There will be anti-IEBC demonstrations in Mombasa whether acting Interior CS Fred Matiang'i likes it or not, Mvita MP Abdulawamad Nassir has said.
The second-term legislator said Matiang'i does not have the right legitimise a protest.
Earlier on Thursday, the CS and National Security Advisory Committee banned demos in Mombasa, Nairobi and Kisumu CBDs saying the threat to the government has grown.
Matiang'i noted there has been mass destruction of property.
Singling out
NASA CEO Norman Magaya, he said
organisers will be held personally liable if orders are broken.
Nassir said police are not entitled to issue orders against a constitutional right.
"Matiang'i has no authority whatsoever to do or not to do so. Demonstrations are a must," he told The Star on phone.
He said they gave police notice that they will be storming the streets on Mondays and Fridays.
During
Monday
protests, Nassir said
Friday's will be fiery.
He said the demos will begin at Tononoka grounds and end at IEBC's offices in Kizingo, a distance of about five kilometers.
Initially, NASA supporters were converging at Uhuru Gardens and covering a distance of less than two kilometers to IEBC offices.
All anti-IEBC demonstration in the county have been largely peaceful but
Friday's has been predicted to be violent.
Nassir said Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho will not take part but will be available for NASA's
Sunday
rally at Mama Ngina grounds.
Joho led Nairobi demos on
Wednesday
to demand that IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba resign.
Magaya has been maintaining such threats by the government are gibberish.
Last Sunday

banned Mombasa's
Monday
demo, he said police are part of dictatorial
government.
Mombasa Urban police Lucas Ogara said demonstrators should keep off streets because President Uhuru Kenyatta was in town.
"We will not allow. They will not do it here.
Tomorrow
we don't need any demonstration while we have the President here," Ogara said.
But Magaya said they will not be cowed.
“If they will attempt [to ban the demo], it will be illegal, police have no powers under the law to outlaw demonstrations,
neither do they have powers to permit a demonstration. They only need notification to provide security.”
NASA has called demonstrations every day of the week to demand reforms at IEBC.
