The African Union Commission is ready to help Kenya end its political stalemate and restore normalcy.

Chairperson Moussa Mahamat issued a statement on Wednesday saying the AUC will take any appropriate action to facilitate the peaceful conclusion of the electoral process.

The stalemate arose from the August 8 election that was a hot contest between President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga.

IEBC declared Uhuru the winner but Raila objected and filed a petition at the Supreme Court.

Chief Justice David Maraga nullified Uhuru's victory on September 1 and ordered a repeat in 60 days but the process hit snags as the President tore into the top court while Raila made demands for the rerun.

He has withdrawn from the race and demanded that a fresh election take place.

On Wednesday, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati announced that all eight presidential candidates will be on the ballot.

Mahamat said the AUC is

closely following Kenya's political affairs, including Raila and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka's withdrawal from the rerun scheduled for October 26.

"The commission, through its observers, is also monitoring

developments following NASA's pronouncements and decisions by courts," he said.

"The chairperson calls on all stakeholders to exercise leadership,

during this crucial period of Kenya’s democracy, to ensure the successful completion of the electoral process."

He added they will contribute to the consolidation of democracy in Kenya and the preservation of peace and stability.

Mahamat noted the commission deployed an Observer Mission in September to support the electoral process.
