Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has unveiled eight county executive committee member nominees for approval by the county assembly.

She reduced the number of slots by two in a bid to create a lean team that will steer the county to greater heights of development.

The governor, observers said, is keen to reduce the county's wage.

Former governor Julius Malombe's administration had ten CECs.

The names were forwarded to county assembly speaker George Ndotto on Wednesday.

John Makau, who ran against the speaker, has been nominated Environment and Natural Resources CEC.

The other nominees are Rosaita Ngina (Health), Emanuel Kisangau (Agriculture, Water and Livestock Development), David Kivoto (Education).

Mary Nguli is the Treasury CEC nominee, Jacob Kakundi (Lands), Philip Mumo (Cooperatives), Patrick Musau (Tourism).

The county boss unveiled the list even as many of her colleagues also sought to align their administrations.

Embu, Siaya, Mombasa, Homa Bay, Elgeyo Marakwet, Kajiado, Kwale are among counties that have kicked off the process of hiring CECs.
