Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has said the October 26 repeat presidential election must take place for the country to move on.
The Kanu national chairman said prolonged politics has stagnated the economy hence the elections circus must come to an end.
"IEBC has set the date for the fresh election and it should not be moved again. The elections must be held on October 26," Moi said.
The senator, who supports the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta, on Saturday said the country has to be united.
He said this should be regardless of the current political tension caused by the annulment of the August 8 polls.
The country is experiencing heated politics pitting the National Super Alliance led by Raila Odinga against Uhuru's Jubilee Party.

While Uhuru's team insists the fresh election must be held as scheduled, Raila has said he will only take part if IEBC is reformed.
Last months' presidential election was declared null and void following a majority decision of the Supreme Court on September 1.
Following the judgement, the Opposition has said they cannot trust another election with IEBC secretariat officials who managed last month's vote.
"This circus on election should come to an end. We need to decisively vote on the day IEBC set since the country needs to move on," he said.
He said Kanu cannot change its decision on backing Jubilee.
"Kanu endorsed President Kenyatta but his victory was annulled. We respect the court decision and our stand with President Kenyatta remains," said Moi.
He was speaking at Kapsang village, Soy constituency in Uasin Gishu county during the burial of Goko Jane Tongoi Tarus.
Tongoi is the mother-in-law of the former Eldoret North MP the late Reuben Chesire.
The senator was accompanied by MPs William Kamket (Tiaty) and his Soy counterpart Caleb Kostany.
Moi also asked Soy MP poll loser Jonathan Bii of Kanu to withdraw a case he filed challenging the Kositany's victory.
"I want to thank the deputy president William Ruto for promising to accommodate Bii. He should in turn work with Kostany to develop Soy."
Kostany and Kamket said they fully support the proposed amendments to the election laws.
"The new laws will seal loopholes which led to the decision by the Supreme Court to cancel the August 8 poll results," said Kamket.
Kostany asked NASA to stop frustrating IEBC if they are not ready for polls.
Kamket asked NASA leader Raila Odinga to stop holding the country at ransom because of personal interests.
"When people reach a certain age in their lives it is incumbent upon them to bless and give leadership baton to the next generation," he said.
