Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya is expected to outline his final term agenda when he addresses the county assembly today.

The MCAs were sworn in on September 7.

Oparanya will give the MCAs his development agenda in his house opening address.

Sources say the governor will also call on the county lawmakers to pass legislation that will facilitate completion of ongoing projects started during his first term.

They include the completion of the first phase of Sh6 billion Kakamega County Referral and Teaching Hospital. The facility should be operational by mid next year. There is also the completion of phase one of modernisation of the Bukhungu Stadium. Oparanya will also ask MCAs to come up with policies that promote economic development.

County residents will be keen on how the governor tackles corruption.

Oparanya said during his swearing in ceremony that days for wheeler-dealers and brokers in his administration were over. He has also promised to sack all lazy county executives and chief officers when he announces his new cabinet.

The governor had run-ins with the county assembly during his first term and will seek to build a better relationship with MCAs this term.
