Late Gachagua’s two-year old grandson mauled by dogs

The two-year old grandson of the late Nderitu Gachagua was mauled by a pack of six dogs on Thursday.

He had been playing at the late Nyeri Governor's home near Nyeri town when a neighbour's dogs attacked at about 11.30am.

The dogs made it past a live-wire fence.

Margaret Karungaru sustained minor injuries while trying to rescue the boy.

Neighbours who heard screams went there to help.

The boy was rushed to Outspan Hospital where he died while being treated.

Nyeri Deputy Governor Mutahi Kahiga, who visited the scene, said the dogs' owner may have been negligent.

He said police have taken over the matter.
