Former Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti has filed a petition challenging Governor Martin Wambora's win in the August 8 general election.

He was escoreted by his lawyers Tom Ojienda and Wilfred Nyamu and supporters as he filed bulky petition papers on Friday.

Kivuti lost narrowly to Wambora, garnering 96,775 votes against 97,760 when they contested for the Governor's seat.

He wants Wambora's election nullified, saying he won the seat by more than 400 votes.

He filed the petition after withdrawing a constitutional petition that he had lodged in an attempt to block Wambora from being sworn in.

The politician had also tried to have ballot papers, election results entry forms 37A and 37B protected at the Embu High Court to avoid interference.
