Some 700,000 people went through the gates of the London Stadium night after night during the 10-day IAAF World Championships.

The world bid farewell to sprinter and showman Usain Bolt, who had a painful end to his career after pulling up with a hamstring in his final race.

IAAF president Sebastian Coe said: “The theatre that has been provided by those full houses has been incredible. We have had more people in 10 days across a world championship than ever before. And I genuinely can’t remember a time when the sport was so competitive and the stories around them so rich.”
