Charles Nyachae's ex-wife charged with forging signatures

A Baringo politician arrested for allegedly forging signatures was charged in Kabarnet on Tuesday alongside nine accomplices.

Woman representative aspirant Kaptuiya Cheboiwo is the ex-wife of former CIC chairman Charles Nyachae.

She did not appear in person before Kabarnet resident magistrate Ezra Ayuka

but was charged alongside

Nicholas Yego, Elijah Kangogo and Paul Kipyegon.

The others were Benjamin Chebon, Victor Kipsang, Peter Chebii,Kieng Yegon, Noah Yegon and Alex Kiplagat.

Cheboiwo also faced charges of of furnishing false particulars to nomination papers contrary to section 13(1) of the Election Act.

Their lawyer Hillary Mwaita requested that the plea taking be deferred for at least a week. The prosecution agreed but asked the accused to report to a police station.

The magistrate said the accused will take plea on June 15 and released the suspects on Sh50,000 bond each.

Cheboiwo was expected to submit her papers to the IEBC last Wednesday.

Her opponents Grace Kiptui (independent), Susan Chesyna (Jubilee), Gladwell Cheruiyot (Kanu), Naomi Torono (CCM) were cleared on Tuesday.
