Jubilee Party nominees from 11 counties in the Mt Kenya region have said they will deliver eight million votes to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

During a meeting in Laikipia county on Saturday, the aspirants said they are unfazed by independent candidates, who have branded themselves the Third Force.

The meeting was convened by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and Laikipia Governor Joshua Irungu.

Present were nominees from Kirinyaga, Embu, Tharaka Nithi, Meru, Laikipia, Kiambu, Nyeri, Murang’a, Nakuru, Nairobi and Nyandarua counties.

Nominees’ spokesperson and Kipipiri MP candidate Amos Kimunya said, “Whoever is willing to campaign for the President is welcome.”

He said the electorate gave the nominees the mandate to represent them through Jubilee

“Over 60 per cent of the voters in the region came out during the party primaries and this is a clear indication that those who made it during the exercise will definitely succeed on the ballot,” Kimunya said.

Kimunya, a former Finance minister during President Mwai Kibaki’s administration, said nominees will hold joint rallies. The first one will be held in Murang’a county today.

Kirinyaga governor nominee Anne Waiguru urged NASA to “stop inciting Kenyans” by saying they have 10 million votes. She said the statement is reckless.

Waiguru said NASA could not even collect one million signatures to amend the Constitution and wondered where the claimed 10 million votes would come from.

She said Jubilee will win. Waiguru said nominees are ready to go out to all corners of the country to campaign for the President. Kuria said NASA has no basis to claim it has 10 million votes. He said the opposition plans to reject the election results if it loses.
